The royal colors of purple and gold were selected as the official colors when the association was organized in 1917.
Purple stands for loyalty to friends and to one's self, and for integrity of mind and heart.
Gold symbolizes sincerity of purpose, liberality in judgement, purity in life and generosity in mind, heart and purpose toward humanity.

The slogan of the association is "Liberty, Intelligence, Our Nation's Safety (LIONS).

Greetings from your new President. It has already been a busy start to the New Year. Lion Jim and I attended the Lions International Convention in Minneapolis July 5-10. Our new International Director, Ederhard J. Wirfs has chosen the slogan “Move to Grow”, for 2009-2010. He stresses the importance for every club, in e very way possible, to move forward and work toward increasing membership. We can begin this at home – invite your spouse or other family member to share the privilege of belonging to our club. Remember your neighbors, co-workers and those new to our community. Invite them to a meeting or to help with one of our fundraising projects.

Speaking of fundraising, we are becoming well known for our cooking projects. Although we work hard, we have lots of fun! Some of our recent projects including the Annual Steak Fry and Fridays on the Plaza have been especially successful, contributing immensely to our local vision projects. Regardless of your age and/or ability level, we need you. We offer something for everyone and we have fun!

Yours in Lionism,
Susan Gill, President
